Many Catholics have a particular devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. This feast day reminds us of Jesus’ heart which “poured out blood and water from his pieced side, the well-spring of the Church’s Sacraments..” (Preface from the feast of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, The Roman Missal)

It is also a special day to pray for Priests who are always in need of our prayers. We pray that they may have hearts like Our Lord, beating for love of the Church, for the Pope and the people they serve.

Men who are discerning their vocations may find much consolation and encouragement as they mediate on the heart of Jesus, who may be calling them to follow him and give their hearts to Christ in the Priesthood. We need big hearted men to become Priests, men who are not afraid to love and follow Christ’s example.

We pray for more vocations particularly to the Priesthood and pray that the Sacred Heart of Jesus will bless our diocese and country with many more Priestly vocations, men who have hearts like Our Lord.

Kind regards and God bless
