The story of Jesus raising his friend Lazarus from the dead can be seen as frightening. (John 11:1-45. Fifth Sunday of Lent Year A). We may not be physically dead, but there may be plenty of things preventing us from being totally free to discern our vocation and following the Lord.
There is always that temptation to listen to that negative voice or the many other voices in the world such as our family and friends, who may not be able to give good and accurate advice and direction for one’s calling.
Then again it doesn’t have to be people who are holding us back. It could be our work, possessions and our attitudes. It could also be our personal blindness and deafness that is getting in the way of us seeing God’s will clearly in our lives.
May our prayer today be that Jesus will unbind us, and let us be free so we may discover our vocation in life.
