It is not always easy knowing what God’s will is. (Matthew 21:28-32, Twenty-Sixth Sunday in Ordinary Time, Year A) The first son must have thought good and hard about his decision before coming to the conclusion that he had made a poor choice. He was doing his own will rather than the will of his father.
How do we discover God’s will and make sure we are doing his and not our own will? Discernment is about discovering God’ will for us. It takes time and prayer to figure out what God’s will is. Often this is revealed to us over time. Let us pray that we will always do the will of God in our lives.
