Jesus’ teaching made a deep impression on those who listened to him as we hear in the Gospel reading for the 4th Sunday of Ordinary Time – Mark 1:21-28. Jesus is our teacher. He is the one we should listen to. We need to allow him to speak to our hearts.

Men discerning their vocation, need to sit at the feet of Jesus and listen to his words, which may not necessarily be what they want to hear. We may not be open or even ready for his message to us.

Jesus never stops teaching us and inviting us to follow him in a particular vocation. Our responsibility is to listen and to respond generously, willingly and openly.

May our prayer today be the response of the psalm for this Sunday. “If today you hear his voice  harden not your hearts.”
