“Ask, and it will be given to you, search, and you will find; knock, and the door will be opened to you.” (Matthew 7:7-12. First Week of Lent: Thursday)

To discern one’s vocation we need to be proactive. Discernment requires work, prayer and time.

We begin by praying, asking the Lord to assist us to discover our vocation.

We then, at the same time need to do research to find out our options. One needs to ask- what am I attracted to?  Could I see myself getting old in this lifestyle and how am I going to serve the Lord in a particular vocation?

Finally, we need to do something about it and not give up when things get hard. Make the phone call, send an email, talk to the Vocations Director and/or your Parish Priest. Be prepared to take the risk and even be knocked back, but never be satisfied with not knowing what your true vocation in life is.

Kind regards and God bless
