St Mary of the Cross MacKillop is a wonderful example of a woman of faith. (Feast day 8th August) She was excommunicated by a bishop in Australia but never gave up her Catholic faith despite being treated so poorly. St Mary showed a strong character, a persevering faith and deep love for the Church, even in this instance when it had made a terrible mistake.

Life sometimes may seem very unfair and even cruel. We often don’t understand God’s plan and what his will is, and what lessons and blessings God will bestow on his faithful servants. We can learn a lot from St Mary of the Cross. She is an inspiration for those who are discerning a vocation; not to give up and to continue loving Christ and the Church.

St Mary of the Cross please pray for more Priestly vocations for our country and diocese, and inspire in our seminarians the same love that you had for the Church.

Kind regards and God bless
