All men discerning a vocation need to have a little of St. Thomas in them. They need to be prepared to ask questions, to be humble and also to know when they are wrong. Being wrong is not a bad thing. It teaches us humility. This strengthens our faith as seen in St. Thomas who leaves us a beautiful profession of faith. “My Lord and my God,” (John 20:19-32, Second Sunday of Easter, Year A)

We ask St. Thomas to pray for more priestly vocations for our diocese and for New Zealand; for men who are willing to ask the right questions, take risks and be humble when they are wrong, so their faith may grow into something beautiful.

Today may our prayer be St. Thomas’s profession of faith, “My Lord and my God” and may these few words touch and strengthen our faith.
