An essential part of the vocation of every Christian is to be the salt of the earth and light of the world. (Matthew 5:13-16)
Just as we need salt to give flavour to our food so it becomes tasty and pleasant to eat, our actions, our faith and efforts to live a virtuous life also need to be the salt of the earth so we become the light of the world.
This is our continuous challenge to make sure that we are the salt of the earth so that we can be the light in world. It is important that we are continually working on our spiritual lives, examining our conscience and making sure we have a good Spiritual Plan that we set ourselves to do daily.
It is much easier to discern one’s vocation when we have a good Spiritual Plan, when we know what we are doing and not giving up when things become difficult. Then we become the salt of the earth and light of the world.
