temptation-jesus[1]

We begin Lent by living the words of Jesus immediately following his forty days in the wilderness .  “The time has come and the kingdom of God is close at hand. Repent, and believe the Good News.” First Sunday of Lent, Year B, Mark 1:12-15

Lent is a time for us to repent, to change our hearts, to begin again and believe in the Good News.

The temptation during Lent is to do nothing -no prayer, no fasting, no almsgiving, and to miss this opportunity of grace to become closer to our Lord.

Men discerning their vocation may also have to go into the wilderness to discover what the Lord is calling them to become.  The wilderness will not be an easy experience, but something we may need to go through to discover our vocation in life.

Let us be brave and go into the wilderness, hopefully to be tempted to discover what the Lord is calling us to be, rather than doing nothing.
