timothy-jesus-knocking[1]

Keep us alert, we pray, O Lord our God,

as we await the advent of Christ your Son,

so that, when he comes and knocks,

he may find us watchful in prayer

and exultant in praise .

Who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit,

one God, ever and ever.

The Opening Prayer (Collect) for the Mass for Monday of the first week of Advent, reminds us that we should be waiting for the knock on the door from Jesus, and be ready to invite him into our lives and hearts.

We wait for his knock eagerly, prayerfully and with a joyful heart. We should not be saddened or downcast but watchful and happy to invite Jesus into our lives, as he begins the conversation of assisting us to learn what special plan he has for us to do, our vocation in life.

The season of Advent reminds us about our priorities and it assists us to make good decisions about our spiritual lives now and in preparation for the future. It assists us with our first vocation to holiness, and puts us on the journey to discover our primary vocation in life.

Kind regards and God bless
